Magneto Stator

The magneto stator is the stationary part. When the rotor spins, the coils and permanent magnets inside the stator generate electric current to keep the engine running. When you hit the throttle, this is the current doing all the work. At FridayParts, we’ve got all kinds of replacement magneto stators to get your machine’s electrical system back in shape. You can browse by brand or equipment type to find the perfect fit for yours.

What Does a Magneto Stator Do?

Think of the magneto stator as the power generator for your off-road ride or motorcycle. This key part teams up with the flywheel (rotor) to make AC electrical current—current that fires up the ignition, charges the battery, and runs your lights and other gear. If it goes out, your whole electrical system will mess up.

Why Do Motorcycles Still Use Magneto?

Some older motorcycles and dirt bikes use magnetos because they’re lightweight, reliable, and don’t need a battery to produce a spark for ignition.

Common Symptoms of a Bad Stator

Not sure if your stator’s the problem? Watch for these common red flags:

  • Hard to start: Engine cranks but won’t fire up, or starts only sometimes.
  • Weak or dead battery: It won’t hold a charge—even after you charge it externally.
  • Dim or flickering lights: Headlights and dash lights are way dimmer than usual, or flicker when RPMs change.
  • Engine sputters or backfires: A weak stator means a spotty spark, and that messes up engine performance.
  • Blown fuses: A shorted stator can keep blowing the main fuse over and over.

We’ve got tough, reliable stators for lots of popular brands and models. Our parts get your specific machine back up and running—whether it’s a UTV, ATV, or motorcycle.
